One Sassy Sister

Okay so it's been a little while since I have posted. I am really trying to make at least one to two posts a week obviously I have not been very good at that. But for now please enjoy this great video of my niece entertaining the family. I think she has a bright future in the entertainment business or maybe just the entertaining the family business but either one makes us smile and laugh! Enjoy!

I apologize for it being sideways. Could not figure out how to change it! Hope it doesn't ruin how great this is!

One Project Down... A ton to go!

One of the things that I am trying to achieve with our new house is finding really awesome deals to make our new house really special to us. So, naturally this is going to mean several projects to come. Here is the very first one that we did but sadly enough it all happened so fast that I never took any before pictures. You will just be seeing the final product (which we are very happy with). When I was a senior in college I was given two club chairs and two matching ottomans by a family in our home church. They were a woven pattern material that consisted of various natural colors. There were a few pulls here and there from pets the family had but other than that the chairs were in great condition. They were okay with our colors but not the best so I found some really awesome fabric at this wonderful store in Brookhaven, MS called the Cotton Patch where you can get ANY fabric for $5 a yard! AWESOME and maybe a favorite place of mine! So we got the chairs recovered in this fabric for a relatively good price and they look amazing. So with no further adieu...... drum roll please...........

Here they are!!!

Excuse the surroundings...these were taken in my parents attic.

The stripes in the fabric are a brownish gray color, blue, green, and gold.

So here is the start of many projects! Here is to being extremely productive and creative but for a good price!

House Up to Date

Okay, so I know that I said I was going to try to be good about updating the blog especially with the house progress but I have not been as good as I had originally intended. My bad :). Just to let you know where we are currently in the process I will show you with pictures!

Well, since the last post we now have walls and they put up the vapor barrier. Also, you can clearly see where windows and doors will be as well!

This is the back of the house.

And the garage side of the house.

That was the progress as of March 2nd. And now for more recent photo updates:

Closer view of the front of the house. What you are really looking at is our little front porch! A part of the house that I am very excited about! We hope to find some rocking chairs or bench to sit and enjoy our morning cups of coffee!

Yep! You know what this means....electricity has been run through the house!

And AC too!

This is our roof with shingles!

The next few are just a few shots that I took in the little park looking at our house.

All these pictures were taken on May 11th

Well, that's all I have for now but there will be more to come I assure you! Also, as far as we know we are still on track for our closing date that is May 31st. We are going to continue with our positive thinking skills and lots of prayer and hope that our closing date remains the same if not earlier! As I mentioned in an earlier post I have several projects that I have been working on and I will show you the progress of those. I am most excited about before and after pictures with the house without furniture and decorations and the with them.

Hope you enjoy!

A glimmer of light!!!

Okay, so maybe I am being a little dramatic by giving this post the title a glimmer of light but really in the past few days Zach and I have been given a little "light at the end of the tunnel" about our house that reaffirms the fact that we will not be living in a small room in my sisters house forever... so I guess my power of positive thinking is working...I will keep that up. But really we have seen a great deal of progress in just a short period of time... and yes I know there will be more slow times to come but...I am going to keep hoping for pretty weather and a good attitude by all involved! Here are a few pictures of the progress!

Okay so we felt as if we stayed at this point forever..ya know just the sold sign and the land...but really we were at this point for probably about a month and then the broke ground (which I don't have a picture of) but then we were at that point in the process for a while because of all the "winter weather" we had but then they moved on to the next picture.

They began our foundation probably on Monday of February 21st. This part of the process moved more quickly than expected! Also, when we looked at the slab we were like whoa! our house is really small, our builder quickly informed us that seeing the slab normally always makes you loose perspective and proportion...he was right because the next few pictures after the foundation pictures happened and it helped us gain our perspective back!

This is a picture of where our little front porch will be! We are really excited about it!

Just a side view.

Then to my surprise one day on the way to work they were framing it up!  This was on Wednesday

Still on Wednesday, Feb. 23rd

And more framing Thursday Feb. 24th. The bottom floor is almost completed.

Another view with the garage in sight.

Side view to see the whole thing!

So needless to say we are pretty pumped! And because of all this recent activity I have had several projects that I have been working on for the inside of the house. But the biggest project we have been working on is about the outside of the house and it is the EXTERIOR PAINT COLOR! We think we have chosen the color and this will be in future posts! Hope your week has been eventful and that you have enjoyed being outside in the beautiful weather! Keep hoping for it because Zach and I really are!

It's Been a While

I know that it has been a little while, like 2 months almost since my last post but I am "back in the game!" (Anyone know what movie that is from??) So things have been going pretty good for Zach and I and I really have a good bit to blog about! We are still busting at the seams in my oldest sisters house but they have started on our house and hopefully we will be in there before we know it! I am trying to stay optimistic about the whole building process because pretty much all I have heard is the negative things from others especially about the time that it takes to build a house. But like I said I am taking a chance on the power or positive thinking! But be sure to stay tuned because there will be pictures that will be coming up to keep you updated about where we are with the building process.
But I will first start by sharing about my trip to Arizona to see Stan the baby man! My middle sister had a sweet baby boy a few weeks ago so my oldest sister and I decided to road trip it to Arizona. Yep that's right the whole 22 hours there and the whole 22 hours back but I must say it was all worth it because we got to see the babe and my sweet sister! When we finally arrived we came in and we all hugged and cried because we were so excited to be there and we got to see Stan and how perfect and sweet he is in person! Anna, my middle sister, is doing great and is showing to be a phenomenal Mama! She and Stan have adapted to this new life very well! We had so much fun visiting them and cannot wait to see them again very soon! There are so many things that I could tell you about our visit and all the places we got to visit and things we got to do but I will just let you look at the pictures and ooohhh and awwww at the cuteness of my awesome nephew! Enjoy!

Stan's Door Hanger Mandy and I made him for the hospital!

One of our many amazing views on the way to AZ!

First time out! And in his sweet little hat the Aunt Mandy made him that was a little tight!

Chillin' with his daddy

Winkin' at me! He loved his Aunt Aimee immediately!

Going a little cross eyed!

Our parents were out there for the week before us. We actually met them in El Paso, TX for coffee. But when Mandy and I got to Arizona these were in our room from our Mama and Daddy because we were out there on Valentines Day! Best parents ever!

Another one of the crazy views we had! These tall mountains were seriously nothing but huge rocks and boulders stacked super high!

Me and Stan just snuggling. Once again he loves me!
Hope you enjoyed the pics as a proud aunt there will be more to come!

Busting at the Seams

Christmas was a little crazy for us this year. We moved out of the apartment and then managed to spend time with both of our families. We really did have a good time but things just flew by. We first spent four days before Christmas moving and it felt like it took us FOOREEVVER to get all of our things moved. I will say that when moving and realizing all the "things" we have I realized and could not help but think about how we are abundantly blessed. But I will admit when we started I got a little overwhelmed but as the days progressed we finally got it all taken care of and when I say got it all taken care of that means we got to the point where we became completely apathetic and all organization flew out the window so by the last load we just began throwing any and everything big or small in the bed of Zach's truck. Yep that's right, like loose books, jewelry, towels, etc. But like I said we got it all taken care of and maybe the phrase taken care should really be it was just finally over. Our parent's came and helped with the moving process and now our things are seriously everywhere. Furniture is at his parents, all boxes are at my parents and now all of our clothes and everything else is at my sisters house and hence the title of this blog post we are busting at the seams in this bedroom. But we are super thankful for the Martin Family allowing us to shake up their world for a little while. Here are some pictures of our cozy little bedroom:

Don't let the cleanliness fool you there are things literally stuffed under every piece of furniture that you can see in this pic!

Out of control!!!!

Okay now moving on to Christmas. For Christmas Eve we went to Zach's house and hung out with his family. This was different from last year. Last year we spent Christmas just me and Zach and went to a candlelight service. This was my first year in my 25 years that I did not go to a Candlelight service on Christmas eve... yea I know poor poor pitiful me but it was different for me. We did have a really great time with Zach's family and I always laugh a lot when we are with them. We then woke up Christmas morning around 6:45 yes you heard me right (well early for me at least) and hit the ground running. We went around to all the cousins houses and watched their children open gifts. This was really fun and they got some awesome things even though they are boys ages 3 to 10 they got some things even I was a little jealous of :). We opened gifts at Mawmaws' and then had lunch. After this we went straight to my grandmothers and spent time with my family and opened more gifts and ate even more ahhhh!!! My stomach hurts just thinking about it all! Then we headed to my parents with my oldest sister, her husband, and our two roomies (reminder: niece and nephew) to stay the night and do our Christmas with my immediate side of the family. That next morning we rested for a while and then opened gifts. Technology is awesome because we got to open gifts with my pregs middle sister that lives all the way out in the big AZ with her hubs by using SKYPE! Later we ate lunch then went to see my other grandmother who is in a nursing home and we showered her with gifts and spent some good family time with her. So not that you all were just dying to know but that is how our crazy Christmas went.
Zach and I did not get much for each other on actual Christmas because this was our early Christmas gift to one another:

Yep Merry Christmas to us!

We really feel like "grown-ups" now because we were pumped about purchasing a washer and dryer...Lame we know but aren't they fabulous!

However even though we did not really get each other gifts I received these as my Christmas gift the day before Christmas:

I was so excited and absolutely loved them!!! (They are little worn now b/c I just took this picture on the 31st!)

Well I guess this post is long enough (SIKE) it's so long but I hope you enjoy. I hope that everyone had a blessed Christmas and had time to slow down and remember what this amazing season is really all about!
Thanks be to God for sending his Son to be the Savior of me and this relentless and pitiful world!

Stay tuned there is more to come!

Photogenic? We think Not!

Christmas Cards have been ordered! I realize I am bit late with this but..whatev... we will get them out ASAP. We know that each of you are watching your mailboxes anxiously awaiting the arrival of our fabulous Christmas cards.... but here is a little preview of our photo shoot and will let you know that you can just settle down about Christmas card arrival. Zach and I have had several photo sessions together from engagement pics to now Christmas cards pics and we have come up with the unmistakeable truth and that is.... we are absolutely, positively not a photogenic couple. You know you have those couples that are completely flawless and it doesn't matter whether they have snot coming out of their noses, they still look good...well we are not them. But we are what we are and I guess you can say that outside of pictures, we are good with that! So don't think this is Aimee and Zach bash fest... we are just speaking the truth to ourselves in love. :) So here are the not so great pics that we took. ENJOY! Feel free to laugh out loud!

Just wait they get better!

Hope you enjoyed! There were plenty more to put up but I will spare you and hopefully the Christmas card pictures will be a little more pleasing to the eye!
