Gettin There

We are now getting into the closing stages for the house. Too bad the closing stages take like 5 to 6 more weeks. Nonetheless, it has been really great to see the progress in the house everyday. These are the most up to date pictures I have at this point but not necessarily the most update of the actual house at this point. I will try to get that at some point this week! Here is a teaser with more to come:

ALOT of trim work has been done and they are actually almost completely done with it!

There are built-ins that will surround the fireplace but I was most excited to show you the brick work!

All doors are in, at this point they have actually been placed already.

Okay, that is just an idea of where we are right now. Zach and I are getting so excited about moving in and we can probably say that this is the first time that we are actually excited to move. We are hoping that all of that goes smoothly because as mentioned in a previous post our stuff is EVERYWHERE! So hopefully we can get everyone on the same page and moving at the same time. Have fun viewing and let me know what you think!

Hizzie Update

I hope that everyone had a great weekend! We sure did! It was a fun, full, and fairly productive weekend too! I have more recent pictures of our progress on the house. We were told last week 8 MORE WEEKS!!! Our builder told us that we are right on schedule which is awesome news! Keepin' up that positive thinking about our house!

Living room area and fireplace obviously. But as you can tell drywall is up! Woohoo!

Our tub is in. To give you an idea this is across from the shower that I think that I posted earlier!

We happened to be there when they were scoring and staining our kitchen floor. I got to catch it before they covered it up! It looks great!

This is our back porch we had this scored and they will eventually stain this as well.

And finally the front. This is what the house looks like so far. I will say that the painter painted this past Saturday but that is not in these pictures. The house is a golden color, almost the color of the siding that you see now. If you look closely you can see half of our columns that will be on our front porch!

Hope you like what you see so far! Let me know what you think!

Dougie Dancin'

HA!!! Okay first of all I am huge Glee fan. I know that the actual story line of the show is not the best but I have to say that the music and the dancing are the things that entice me the most. Seriously it's like I can't get enough....so of course being obsessed with Glee like I am (I refuse to call myself a Gleek, too cliche) I was Youtubing some Glee cast videos and came across this video. Heather Morris (aka Brittany on Glee) is an amazing dancer and to me hands down the funniest character on the show. You can watch not only this video but I would refer you to her performing TikTok by KedollarsignHA to view more of her talent!
For those of you who know me you know that I love to dance and especially get into hiphop. I often forget that I was once a hiphop dance teacher at a studio, sad I know but true. But as I get older the places to hiphop dance are few and far between so I stick to watching youtube videos to learn new dances. Yep, that's right. So enough with confession time, just watch you will see and maybe by the end of this video you will know how to "Dougie". (Did not mean to rhyme at the end)

One Sassy Sister

Okay so it's been a little while since I have posted. I am really trying to make at least one to two posts a week obviously I have not been very good at that. But for now please enjoy this great video of my niece entertaining the family. I think she has a bright future in the entertainment business or maybe just the entertaining the family business but either one makes us smile and laugh! Enjoy!

I apologize for it being sideways. Could not figure out how to change it! Hope it doesn't ruin how great this is!

One Project Down... A ton to go!

One of the things that I am trying to achieve with our new house is finding really awesome deals to make our new house really special to us. So, naturally this is going to mean several projects to come. Here is the very first one that we did but sadly enough it all happened so fast that I never took any before pictures. You will just be seeing the final product (which we are very happy with). When I was a senior in college I was given two club chairs and two matching ottomans by a family in our home church. They were a woven pattern material that consisted of various natural colors. There were a few pulls here and there from pets the family had but other than that the chairs were in great condition. They were okay with our colors but not the best so I found some really awesome fabric at this wonderful store in Brookhaven, MS called the Cotton Patch where you can get ANY fabric for $5 a yard! AWESOME and maybe a favorite place of mine! So we got the chairs recovered in this fabric for a relatively good price and they look amazing. So with no further adieu...... drum roll please...........

Here they are!!!

Excuse the surroundings...these were taken in my parents attic.

The stripes in the fabric are a brownish gray color, blue, green, and gold.

So here is the start of many projects! Here is to being extremely productive and creative but for a good price!

House Up to Date

Okay, so I know that I said I was going to try to be good about updating the blog especially with the house progress but I have not been as good as I had originally intended. My bad :). Just to let you know where we are currently in the process I will show you with pictures!

Well, since the last post we now have walls and they put up the vapor barrier. Also, you can clearly see where windows and doors will be as well!

This is the back of the house.

And the garage side of the house.

That was the progress as of March 2nd. And now for more recent photo updates:

Closer view of the front of the house. What you are really looking at is our little front porch! A part of the house that I am very excited about! We hope to find some rocking chairs or bench to sit and enjoy our morning cups of coffee!

Yep! You know what this means....electricity has been run through the house!

And AC too!

This is our roof with shingles!

The next few are just a few shots that I took in the little park looking at our house.

All these pictures were taken on May 11th

Well, that's all I have for now but there will be more to come I assure you! Also, as far as we know we are still on track for our closing date that is May 31st. We are going to continue with our positive thinking skills and lots of prayer and hope that our closing date remains the same if not earlier! As I mentioned in an earlier post I have several projects that I have been working on and I will show you the progress of those. I am most excited about before and after pictures with the house without furniture and decorations and the with them.

Hope you enjoy!

A glimmer of light!!!

Okay, so maybe I am being a little dramatic by giving this post the title a glimmer of light but really in the past few days Zach and I have been given a little "light at the end of the tunnel" about our house that reaffirms the fact that we will not be living in a small room in my sisters house forever... so I guess my power of positive thinking is working...I will keep that up. But really we have seen a great deal of progress in just a short period of time... and yes I know there will be more slow times to come but...I am going to keep hoping for pretty weather and a good attitude by all involved! Here are a few pictures of the progress!

Okay so we felt as if we stayed at this point forever..ya know just the sold sign and the land...but really we were at this point for probably about a month and then the broke ground (which I don't have a picture of) but then we were at that point in the process for a while because of all the "winter weather" we had but then they moved on to the next picture.

They began our foundation probably on Monday of February 21st. This part of the process moved more quickly than expected! Also, when we looked at the slab we were like whoa! our house is really small, our builder quickly informed us that seeing the slab normally always makes you loose perspective and proportion...he was right because the next few pictures after the foundation pictures happened and it helped us gain our perspective back!

This is a picture of where our little front porch will be! We are really excited about it!

Just a side view.

Then to my surprise one day on the way to work they were framing it up!  This was on Wednesday

Still on Wednesday, Feb. 23rd

And more framing Thursday Feb. 24th. The bottom floor is almost completed.

Another view with the garage in sight.

Side view to see the whole thing!

So needless to say we are pretty pumped! And because of all this recent activity I have had several projects that I have been working on for the inside of the house. But the biggest project we have been working on is about the outside of the house and it is the EXTERIOR PAINT COLOR! We think we have chosen the color and this will be in future posts! Hope your week has been eventful and that you have enjoyed being outside in the beautiful weather! Keep hoping for it because Zach and I really are!

It's Been a While

I know that it has been a little while, like 2 months almost since my last post but I am "back in the game!" (Anyone know what movie that is from??) So things have been going pretty good for Zach and I and I really have a good bit to blog about! We are still busting at the seams in my oldest sisters house but they have started on our house and hopefully we will be in there before we know it! I am trying to stay optimistic about the whole building process because pretty much all I have heard is the negative things from others especially about the time that it takes to build a house. But like I said I am taking a chance on the power or positive thinking! But be sure to stay tuned because there will be pictures that will be coming up to keep you updated about where we are with the building process.
But I will first start by sharing about my trip to Arizona to see Stan the baby man! My middle sister had a sweet baby boy a few weeks ago so my oldest sister and I decided to road trip it to Arizona. Yep that's right the whole 22 hours there and the whole 22 hours back but I must say it was all worth it because we got to see the babe and my sweet sister! When we finally arrived we came in and we all hugged and cried because we were so excited to be there and we got to see Stan and how perfect and sweet he is in person! Anna, my middle sister, is doing great and is showing to be a phenomenal Mama! She and Stan have adapted to this new life very well! We had so much fun visiting them and cannot wait to see them again very soon! There are so many things that I could tell you about our visit and all the places we got to visit and things we got to do but I will just let you look at the pictures and ooohhh and awwww at the cuteness of my awesome nephew! Enjoy!

Stan's Door Hanger Mandy and I made him for the hospital!

One of our many amazing views on the way to AZ!

First time out! And in his sweet little hat the Aunt Mandy made him that was a little tight!

Chillin' with his daddy

Winkin' at me! He loved his Aunt Aimee immediately!

Going a little cross eyed!

Our parents were out there for the week before us. We actually met them in El Paso, TX for coffee. But when Mandy and I got to Arizona these were in our room from our Mama and Daddy because we were out there on Valentines Day! Best parents ever!

Another one of the crazy views we had! These tall mountains were seriously nothing but huge rocks and boulders stacked super high!

Me and Stan just snuggling. Once again he loves me!
Hope you enjoyed the pics as a proud aunt there will be more to come!
